Sitia is a small and pleasant coastal town where visitors can enjoy the climate and the wonderful beaches. 

Sitia is the home of the administrative and public services for the county and has road and sea connections with various places in the island and with Pireaus and other Aegean islands. There is also a small airport with connection to Athens, Kassos, Karpathos, Rhodes. The Venetian castle that towers over Sitia can be seen from far off. Sitia has a small Archaeological Museum displaying various artefacts from the Minoan period up to the present day, and is well worth a visit. There is not too much tourism in Sitia, and for that reason it’s a perfect escape from the mass tourism that has invaded other destinations on Crete.
